Each is stated in general terms with its source. Your legal adviser or tax adviser can confirm how it applies to your business.
Two months before a shutdown
The building, electrical and plumbing awards require two months' written notice of a Christmas shutdown, or a shorter period agreed with most of the affected staff, and allow a written direction to take accrued paid leave during it. For a shutdown from 22 December 2026, the two months began on 22 October. Source: Fair Work Commission award MA000020, clause 31.3
22 December to 10 January
No business days count from 22 December to 10 January under the BIF Act. On the default terms a progress payment is due 10 business days after the claim, so by our count a claim given on Monday 21 December 2026 is due on Friday 22 January 2027, while wages and super keep going out. Source: QBCC
31 December 2026
Annual financial reporting is due by 31 December 2026, or the date on your QBCC notice, for categories 1 to 7 and every company licensee. Every licensee must meet a current ratio of at least 1 to 1 and the net tangible assets for its category at all times, with at least $46,000 for a builder. Source: QBCC
28 February 2027
The October to December BAS is due on 28 February 2027, a Sunday, so lodgment and payment move to Monday 1 March. On the accruals basis it carries the GST on every claim issued in the quarter, December's included. Source: ATO
1 July 2027
The general waste levy, which applies to construction and demolition waste, rises from $135 to $145 a tonne in the metropolitan zone and from $100 to $103 a tonne in the regional levy zone. Source: Queensland Government
Each date checked against its source on 20 October 2026.
