How we work with practices

Business advice for owners of GP and medical centres, dental practices and allied health practices. Every engagement starts with a diagnostic, then settles into a monthly rhythm alongside your accountant, bookkeeper and practice manager.

How an engagement runs

A diagnostic first, then a monthly rhythm, alongside your accountant

1

A diagnostic in the first weeks

We read your financial statements, billing and appointment data, contractor and service fee agreements and staffing, then set out what drives your profit, where cash sits and the decisions that matter most this year.

2

Then a monthly rhythm

Each month brings a short report on profit and cash, a rolling cash forecast and a meeting to decide what happens next.

3

Alongside your team

We work alongside your accountant, bookkeeper and practice manager and never replace them. Most of the work is virtual, with visits to the practice when they help, across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and the other places we serve.

What it costs

Three starting prices, published openly

Fractional CFO partnership

From

$3,750

Per month, billed month to month and paid in advance, with no long term lock in.

Indicative practice valuation

From

$4,500

A fixed fee, scoped upfront, with no hourly billing. Indicative reports usually take three to four weeks.

Comprehensive valuation

From

$13,500

A fixed fee, scoped upfront, for a valuation suitable for a transaction or dispute. Usually five to six weeks.

Engagements usually stay at the starting price. Some need closer oversight or a deeper assessment, and the scope and fee rise to match. Find your fit confirms your price based on the characteristics of your business, and the pricing page explains how everything is sized.

Where it helps

  • GP and medical centres: billing models and the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program, service fees and doctor retention, room utilisation, and buying in or selling.
  • Dental practices: chair utilisation, oral health therapist scheduling, recall, fee reviews, associate arrangements and practice sales.
  • Allied health practices: clinician utilisation, the mix of NDIS and private clients, price limit changes, contractor or employee models and waitlists.
  • Fractional CFO partnership: the full scope of the monthly work, from management reporting and rolling cash flow forecasts to pricing, budgeting and funding decisions.
  • Business valuation: what the practice is worth before a sale, a buy in, a partner change or a capital raise, and the levers that move the multiple.

What we need from you to start

To begin, we ask for:

  • Read only access to your accounting software.
  • The last two years of financial statements.
  • Reports from your practice management system: billing and appointments for a general practice; production by provider, chair utilisation and recall for a dental practice; billable hours by clinician, cancellations and NDIS claims for an allied health practice.
  • Your service fee, associate or contractor agreements, with rosters and payroll.
  • A first meeting with you and your practice manager about how the practice runs.

Nothing needs to change in your systems before we start.

Common questions

Do you replace our accountant?

No. Your accountant keeps the tax returns, BAS and year end accounts, and your bookkeeper and practice manager keep running the day to day. We add the forward looking work: forecasts, profit by service and by clinician, and the numbers behind decisions on billing, fees, staffing and growth. We share what we find with your accountant, so everyone works from the same figures.

What does it cost?

The fractional CFO partnership starts from $3,750 a month, billed month to month and paid in advance, with no long term lock in. When you need a figure for the practice, an indicative valuation starts from $4,500 and a comprehensive valuation from $13,500, each at a fixed fee scoped upfront.

How is the fee sized?

The right fee depends on the size and complexity of the practice. Most engagements stay at the starting price; some need closer oversight or a deeper assessment, and the scope and fee rise to match. Find your fit asks a few quick questions about your practice and gives you a real figure in about a minute.

Do you work with practices outside Brisbane?

Yes. We work with practices across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, and further afield across Australia. Most of the monthly work happens over video calls and shared reports, with visits to the practice as each engagement needs, so distance changes little.

What do you need from us to start?

Read only access to your accounting software, the last two years of financial statements, reports from your practice management system and your service fee, associate or contractor agreements.
