Healthcare Hub: fractional CFO for healthcare practices

Business advice for owners of GP and medical centres, dental practices and allied health practices. We help you see where the practice makes and loses money, decide on billing and price changes with the numbers in front of you, and build a practice that is worth more when you sell.

Three kinds of practice

Why practice economics are different

Funded and capped fees

Much of a practice’s income is set by someone else. Medicare benefits, NDIS price limits and health fund rebates cap what many services earn, so profit comes from what the practice controls: its mix of services, its private fees and how well its time is used.

Contractor and service fee models

Many doctors and allied health clinicians work as contractors who pay the practice a service fee, often a share of what they bill. The fee level decides how the practice covers rooms, staff and systems, and it shapes whether good clinicians stay.

Clinician utilisation

A full diary can hide unpaid time: gaps between appointments, notes and reports, cancellations and travel. The share of paid hours that is billed is often the biggest lever a practice has.

Price changes on fixed dates

Medicare fees are usually indexed each July, NDIS price limits are reset each financial year and award wages move every year. The dates that change a practice’s margin are known in advance, so each change can be modelled before it lands.

How we work with practices

1

A diagnostic in the first weeks

Every engagement starts with a diagnostic. In the first weeks we read your financial statements, billing and appointment data, contractor and service fee agreements and staffing, then set out what drives your profit, where cash sits and the decisions that matter most this year.

2

Then a monthly rhythm

The work then settles into a monthly rhythm of a short report, a rolling cash forecast and a meeting to decide what happens next.

3

Alongside your team

We work alongside your accountant, bookkeeper and practice manager and never replace them. Most of the work is virtual, with visits to the practice when they help, across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and the other places we serve.

The fractional CFO partnership starts from $3,750 a month, and the pricing page explains how each engagement is sized.

  • Fractional CFO partnership from $3,750 a month
  • Indicative practice valuation from $4,500
  • Comprehensive valuation from $13,500
